Why do you dance? - Akari Morimoto

Hi everyone!

My name is Akari. I was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, and I’ve been living in the U.S. for three years now. There are many reasons why I dance, but the biggest one is that dancing is the best form of self-expression for me. I truly believe it’s an amazing way to communicate that goes beyond age, gender, or nationality.

I dance in many different ways—through dance battles, showcases, and my own classes—but no matter the situation, I always care about what I want to express. I also love seeing how people receive my feelings and respond in their own way, whether through dance or words. To me, that connection between people is what dance is all about.

Some people dance professionally, some dance just for fun, and others experience dance as part of their school education. Dance is something anyone can be involved in, and I feel like it’s a universal language shared all over the world.

As an international dancer, I’ve sometimes struggled with language barriers, but dance has always saved me. It has helped me connect with people, build relationships, and move closer to my dreams. I want to be a dancer who can share not only the joy of dancing, but also these deeper meanings and emotions through my movement

Note from the studio:

Akari is one of the best Waacking and freestyle dance teachers in Los Angeles, CA. She performs at a high level on stage and in dance battles. Akari gets to know her students and is able to break down the movements in a way they can understand. Many people as far away as Burbank and Irvine have driven to take her beginner level Waacking dance class at All Styles Dance studio, 5156 Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.
